Team Teaching Reflections

Overall, I thought our team teaching activity went quite well. I thought we worked well together as a team and everybody had plenty of time to present their part. I was very happy with this as time management can be very difficult when you have so little time and I thought we navigated that quite well. I am glad we chose a hands on activity as I think these are more enjoyable for students and are a great way to learn. I think algebra tiles were an interesting topic choice because many of our classmates, including myself, had not worked with them in this way before. Ashley W. made a good point that giving the students may start to play around with the tiles but that this may not be a bad thing since they may learn something from it!

The environment in the classroom made presenting a little difficult since you had to try to speak loud enough so that everyone could hear you but not so loud that you would distract the other group. Vocal projection is one of the things I know I need to work on as a teacher because my voice is naturally quite soft. I think I also need to work on becoming more confident speaking in front of groups of people as it still makes me a little nervous.

  1. Good reflections, Brianna. Be sure to work on vocal projection as it is an important teaching skill -- and it is one that can be learned in a short time!
